Rust Prevention

I am lucky to live in a low humidity area - so rust is not a common occurrence on my tools.  However, here are some suggestions from the OldTools Archives:

WD-40 - seems to be safe on just about every surface.
Hoppe’s no 9 Gun Oil (non-nickled) - should be avoided on nickel plated surfaces and lead-based solder joints.
Wax - Finish Feeder furniture wax (liquid), Butchers Bowling Alley wax, paste wax, briers furniture wax.
SOB - spirits/oil/beeswax - recipe from The Jointer's Bench (Anthony Seo) available here.
